Our Annual Report: 2014/15
As we look back over our 13 year history, we are immensely proud of the achievements of the communities we support to build sustainable futures in drylands. At the end of the year, we had enabled 838 sand dams to be built in water-scarce places, creating opportunity and hope for over 830,000 people.
Over 13 years, our vision has grown, but our approach has never changed. We have refined our self-help approach to be ever more sustainable, inclusive and cost-effective, now delivering year-round safe water close to home for just £9 per person.
Through our work, sand dams have now become a mainstream rainwater management solution in southeast Kenya and we have supported the construction of 120 sand dams in eight new countries.
These are significant steps towards achieving our vision that millions of the world’s poorest people have transformed their own lives with sand dams.
We are an organisation defined by a philosophy that takes the best aspects of a corporate approach to empower some of the world’s poorest people.
